I agree with Ann on her approach:thumbs:

The only thing I would add to this would be that when referring to the lifestyle is that I would insist on using the term "h0mosexuality". The reason I am so adamant on this is that the term "gay" makes it sound not-so-bad. By using the proper term I would want the individual to recognize the seriousness of the sin.

and the same would go with some other "activities". Back in post 34, Zaac mentioned immodest dress -(especially of women) - yes we should take the same approach.

Some have stated they would never want a h0mosexual - or child molester, ect to be their pastor- well that is and was not the OP - its simply talking about a person attending - and possibly wanting to be a member.

Also, some have stated that we are not to judge other. I disagree - we are to judge - based on the truths of the Bible - as well as our lives should be honoring the Lord.
Just as if we were sitting on a jury in court - we would be judging the accused - based on the law.

Lets not be wimps - let us judge in a Biblical way.

Let us love all sinners who truly seek to live a life honoring the Lord - be it women who need to dress modestly, men who have abused alcoholic, those who are gluttons and even - gasp h0mosexuals.

Umm, I would say that it is very rude to decide what is in every man's head. Yes, maybe the guys in the world and even some in the church but I can tell you safely that it is not one of my husband's fantasy. He is disgusted by that.

Can you show me a church that doesn't also condemn adultery? Because if a church is Biblical, they will stand against ALL sin.

I've been to many churches even fundamental BAPTIST ones, who HAVE couples living together...I attend 2 bible believing churches and know for a fact there are many who are NOT married, yet live together, some are on my facebook...my ex divorced 2 women UNBIBLICALLY and is on his 3rd and never once did a pastor or Christian counselor ever deal with his SIN!...Even when I confronted the church about it....I could go on and on, but you get the point...but God forbid any of these churches have a known homosexual couple at their church ...all hell would break lose.

I am pointing out the hypocrisy and the judgmental spirit among most today who claim to know and love God...all I am saying you want to attack the saved homosexual then attack the one living in sin and who divorces unbiblically and remarries...then you can throw stones all you want...I guess?

As far as the men fantasy thing I didn't say only saved men (although I hear pornography among Christian men is just as high as the unsaved) and statistics do agree with me...google all you want.

Seventy percent of American men ages 18–34 view Internet pornography once a month. This shocking fact is one of many that CT consulting editor John W. Kennedy found during his research for this month's cover story, "Help for the Sexually Desperate" (page 28).

Don't assume that porn isn't a problem in the church. One evangelical leader was skeptical of survey findings that said 50 percent of Christian men have looked at porn recently. So he surveyed his own congregation. He found that 60 percent had done so within the past year, and 25 percent within the past 30 days. Other surveys reveal that one in three visitors to adult websites are women.

Porn is gaining a stranglehold on mainstream American culture. One reason is the false message that porn viewing is harmless and socially acceptable for the sexually frustrated. One reason it is not harmless is the number of casual porn viewers who end up sexually addicted. The term sexual addiction is only 25 years old. But it describes the very real problem of extreme sexual behavior that is destructive to self and others. In his research, John found that experts believe tens of millions of people are addicted to sex.

Stigma and fear work against Christians who wish to address this issue in the community of their church. John himself bears witness to this reality: He became motivated to write about sex addiction after his pastor stonewalled his request to start a confidential men's accountability group. The pastor basically said this hot potato was too hot to handle. After much prayer, John decided to change churches; he then contacted CT to begin writing this article.

John's thorough reporting grants church leaders an unprecedented look into the way men's accountability groups function. One crucial element is creating a confidential context for full disclosure. John said, "I'm a guy. And just about everybody has struggled with this at one time or another. But we don't talk about that at church usually." Disclosure of sex addiction or porn use is so stigmatizing that it is best handled in a confidential, small-group setting in which participants agree not to pass judgment. They also grant each other "the right to call" 24/7 for unannounced check-ins.

"The thing that struck me the most in talking with these men is that I found an honesty rarely apparent in the church," John told me. "These guys are real. They are transparent, honest, no bull, no plastic smiles."

Some of John's recommendations for starting a men's accountability group include starting small, extending the group's focus beyond sexuality only, and maintaining its Christian purpose. This reminds me of how distinctive Christian community is. "Because Christian community is founded solely on Jesus Christ, it is a spiritual and not a psychic reality. In this it differs absolutely from all other communities." That comment from Dietrich Bonhoeffer perfectly sums up what faithful, risk-taking congregations offer a sexually obsessed society.

Why? Being gay is not Biblically sinful. Such a comment would demand questioning him as to what he means by that statement. Now if he said he was engaging in gay sex, then we've got a Biblical point to discuss with him.

Shouldn't there be some time in there to see what the Holy Spirit is going to do after the Christian counseling?

It's a bunch of white wash sepulchre type stuff. How is the average church gonna condemn adultery while the majority of the folks are given their approval to it by the stuff they watch and listen to?

We seem to stand for it when we're at Church, but away from Church we're watching crap that says we don't believe what we're complaining about.

    Being gay is Biblically sinful.

It falls under the category of the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh.

Jesus said one who lusts after a woman in his heart has committed adultery. A man who is aroused by other men, whether he follows with the actual homosexual act or not, is guilty of homosexuality.

Out of the heart proceed unrighteous thoughts, and these defile the man.

There is NO where in God's word that HE says that a sexual orientation is a sin. God speaks to sexual acts as sinful.

We need to stop tagging things as sin that God has not said is sin.

That's LUST period. That's not being gay anymore than it's being heterosexual.

Homosexuality is an orientation. It's NOT an act. ACTS are sinful. What you just spoke of is LUST. That is not homosexuality any more than a heterosexual aroused by another heterosexual is heterosexuality.

LUST IS an unrighteous thought. Orientations are not.

That's right Zac...it is called HYPOCRISY something I HATE and so does God.

If only Jesus could write in sand everyone's sins on here and then everyone can start comparing and pointing fingers at each other...man does not go to hell because he SINS...this may be news to some...man goes to hell because he is born with a sin condition that separates him from a holy God...when one gets saved he receives Christs righteousness, so when God now looks at him, He no longer sees so in so the sinner...he sees JESUS IN HIM...white as snow!

The same way you would treat a fornicator, divorcee, lying, gossiper etc. is the same as you would the homosexual!!!....bring them to God and let Him fix them.

HALLELUJAH, somebody else gets it. I said that in another thread. But the Church has become so dead set on turning the homosexual into the 21st century leper, that we've become comfortable in responding in disgust of their sin as though ours is not equally vile.

Our answer should ALWAYS be to point them to Christ. But the ongoing narrative displayed by the majority of the Church does not leave room to point them to Christ.

    really....
    1 Kings 14:24
And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.

    opps..here it is again;
    1 Kings 15:12
And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

    again:
    1 Kings 22:46
And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

    and again:
    2 Kings 23:7
And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

And we need to call sin what God says is sin.

using worldly terminology to get away from the disgusting behaviour helps no one.

The bible does not use "orientation"..you have believed the lie on this.
God did not send sodomy to hell, he sent the sodomites there.

Zaac I've written more on the subject if you check my threads.

I know not many get it...you said it right...I just hate when people pick and choose what they want out of the bible and what they major on...it only shows that most do not understand the GOSPEL as much as they think or say they do...sad huh?

Think we need to start bringing back Jesus and what He taught....hence my name Matt22:37-39....2 COMMANDMENTS...LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART SOUL AND MIND AND OTHERS AS YOURSELF.

That ois all we are called to do...and preach the gospel

A sodomite is one who engages in sodomy. A SINFUL ACT is performed. One does not have to perform a sinful act to consider himself a homosexual anymore than a person would have to have sex with the opposite sex to consider Himself a heterosexual.

Absolutely. But God hasn't referred toeither homosexuality or heterosexuality as sins.

And using terminology to make something into a sin that God's word has not called a sin helps no one except the ones who want to demonize homosexuals.

I didn't say that the Bible used orientation. Yall the ones calling homosexuality a sin. The Bible speaks to specific sexual acts as sin.

BINGO!!! The Church has become too much of a busy body with it's issues of the day that the issues are what we're known for and not preaching the saving, transforming love of Jesus.

Very few seemed to grasp that if we would just preach the Good NEws instead of letting the world get us off message onto ISSUES, the issues would be covered.
