They served bubble and squeak on the island of Hawai'i??

I woulda' thought there they would have served poi.

Not sure what they might serve on Greenland, the real "big island", but it would probably be fish.

I kind of enjoy poi, but only when you dip the meat in it or have it with other savory foods like at a luau.

I read the recipe for this stuff and, as usual with British food, it doesn't sound appetizing. I don't care much for cabbage and absolutely detest brussel sprouts.

Sugar on lemon slices was a favorite treat of mine growing up. Here they serve ice tea withg a lemon slice, and I'll still sprinkle a little sugar on it now and then.

I've also fried dandelion heads in the spring, when they first bloom. Taste kinda like squash.

I kind of like brussel sprouts, with lots of butter and a little salt, but can't anyone else in the family to like them.

In Japan, there was a street vendor who sold baked yams from his cart. Just the smell alone would make me beg my Mom for some money. NC cooks had nothing on him when it came to sweet potatoes!

    love,

    Sopranette

I was thinking yesterday, as I was eating my favorite sandwich, it fit right here. A really great bolonga, the kind you had to get sliced (not the presliced stuff, it soggy), white bread with miracle whip on both bread (the only time I will eat salad dressing), with plain potato chips on top, you got to smash the top bread down to break the chips and make sure your miracle whip holds them in the sandwich.
    Now thats good eats.... lol

Salami wrapped around tiny, strong tasting pickles (cornichons).

I prefer most vegatables raw. I love raw cauliflower, but can't stand to even look at it cooked. Yuck!

Pickled carrots. I used to eat them by the jar full, but haven't been able to find them here. Guess I'll have to make some of my own sometime!

I gotta stop with all this food...I'm gaining pound every time I read this thread!

    love,

    Sopranette

I like to put cheddar cheese and chopped onions in my mashed potatoes. I don't do it very often, though, because the rest of the family hates onions.

 Well, it's cooked. I like rice pudding too. Yum. When I make it, I get to eat all of it because no one else in my family likes it. Ha!

I guess I don't have any weird food habits. Oh well, I tried!
