I should have remembered that. As an Anglophile and Royal Watcher I've read lots of books and biographies about both.
I recently purchased, at an antiques mall in Florida, a Souvenir Programme of "The Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II"
a book titled "Our King and Queen and the Coronation" which had tucked inside a smaller booklet titled "The Crowning of the King & Qveen". (that's not a typo, it is spelled 'Qveen'.)

I also have several commemorative mugs, plates for Royal events and a beaker for the Coronation that never happened.

Good for you, Gayla. I hear a lot of nasty things about the Royals, but as a survivor of the Blitz of London, I have nothing but admiration for the Royal family. I have stood within touching distance of the Late King and Queen Mum as they toured our bombed out area.

I also have a photograph of the then Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret changing a lorry tyre on a bombed out street in London. They both drove lorries during the war. I shall have a look for the photo and post it here for you.

I started seminary training in a bombed out building in 1945. We had no windows and often had to anchor our books and papers so the breeze didn't get to them.

    Cheers,

    Jim

To-day is that one day of the year when everyone is Irish, even if they are Polish.

Happy St. Pat's Day to everyone.

    Cheers,

    Jim

And the rest of the day be yours....

That is the official Irish response to that expression.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Gayla,,,Not many this side of the pond know the proper response.

By the way, envelope is on the way as of this morning. This summer, wife and I plan to clean out some storage chests. I know that some of the items stored are official chinaware pertaining to the Royals. We will have a gander and may be able to send some your way..originally from England, and some may not be available in North America.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Howdy folks,

Jim, Thanks!! All of the Royal Commemoratives I have were made England,(at least they're marked as such, and I have no reason to doubt).
I found them all at Antique stores except one for the Fortieth Anniversary of the ascension. At the time I had a subscription to BRITISH HERITAGE magazine, and it was one of the advertisements.

Spring is such a lovely time -- It means school is winding down! YEAH!!!

And this year it means we are getting ready for another graduation as Joe nears the end of his time at UNCW AND a wedding . . .

I like spring around the third week in May. Earlier it is usually cold, windy and wet around here.

I mow three acres of turf, but I mulch everything. No sneezes here.

We also run two air purifiers constantly in the house. Sure cuts down on the dust and other airborne nasties.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Well, it's been slow in the tea room again. It's Friday night. After a Thursday night of basketball, I'm looking forward to a Friday night of basketball. (If I can stay awake :D )

It's 8 pm and the fire is going and I've got a big mug of hot black tea. Ron's already snoring in the other chair (long week). I love having him close enough to hear him snore!

We lost electricity at ten last night and just got it back an hour ago. I used my emergency power to watch the Duke game and then Gonsaga....I went to bed down in the dumps, but i have hopes for Boston College and UCon..

    Cheers,

    Jim
