I do not think this thread is about Obama criticizing GB. So, let's stick with the topic. What is Cheney up to?

Bush's own guys have turned on him..and add to the list Scott McClellan and General Powell. To listen to the wailing around here, you'd think that disagreeing with President Bush makes someone a "Rino". Well, as Bush himself said, "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — [pauses] - shame on you. Fool me — I can't get fooled again." -
Plus, he is trying to get a book deal any bets on what will be in the book? -

An argument similar to this is often arises when people attempt to define religious groups. In some Christian groups, for example, there is an idea that faith is permanent, that once one becomes a Christian one cannot fall away. Apparent counter-examples to this idea, people who appear to have faith but subsequently lose it, are written off using the ‘No True Scotsman’ fallacy: they didn’t really have faith, they weren’t true Christians. The claim that faith cannot be lost is thus preserved from refutation. Given such an approach, this claim is unfalsifiable, there is no possible refutation of it.
Do you accept this application of your so called "No True Scotsman" fallacy argument? -
Let them keep talking/writing like this. The GOP is wildly out of touch, and was TROUNCED in two consecutive election years. Since 2006, the GOP lost the White House, the House, and the Senate.
As for the former VP, his legacy has already been set in stone. He will be remember in this light regardless of the rhetoric. I am fighting a feeling of schadenfreude, but with every quote/headline, he really makes it hard.
We can only hope Obama will be running against Palin in 2012. The only thing better would be running against Newt Gingrich, who is still an all-around bad guy (and perhaps the main reason I left the GOP in 2001).
Regards to you - hope all is well with you and yours,

Powell is a populist, nothing more. -
The problem is when Bush took office, he allowed alot of Bill Clinton's cabinet members to stay. When he took office, he should have cleaned house & hired some conservative cabinet members.

And the idea stems from your Mark Twain quote, who was a well-known atheist. -

Actually most people do have clear knowledge how well we have it here. And often raise concerns for any slight change in the wrong direction because of that clear knowledge. But then taking cues form one who rarely shows up here for the sole purpose of criticizing other BB members will lead you in the wrong direction as well.

It is possible to travel by reading travelogues. Of course this is not the same as actually being there, but is is helpful. Also travel programs on TV give insights into other cultures.
Being an atheist does not mean Mark Twain was wrong in his statement on travel. It is not a theological statement. He may have been an athiest, but he was a keen observer and a great writer.
Read his description of a hound dog trying to catch a coyote from his book, "Roughin It."

Also, travel did little for me in that regard. I wondered how a mother could feel good about bringing children intro the poverty I saw in some countries I visited. I remember especially being disgusted by how people in Naples, Italy lived. Cartegena, Spain comes to mind, as well. And the way Singapore treats her citizens should make an anti-waterboarder like you weep. Travel to other countries only makes me love America more. And it gives me the opinion that Aemricans are what make the country great, not it's government.
