The issue of a “litmus test” was brought up in Salty’s thread(“Baptist Standard on the KJV”), and the article was true in that regard; I do sometimes, use the KJV, as a litmus test(if someone uses it in Scripture references).
Now to the point, of needing a “reverse-litmus test”: It must be called that, because there is already a litmus test in play, whenever anyone shows support for the KJB; Immediately they are in danger of being branded as a backwards doofus, therefore every time anybody...
In another thread discussing original sin an interesting point was brought up about Jesus.
Christians say that Jesus was totally human and totally God. If at Calvinist say all humans are born totally depraved then it must be assumed they have to believe that Christ was born totally depraved. If he was not born totally depraved then he was not totally human in the accepted Calvinist view of original sin or at least as some have expressed it on this BB. How can this be? I am looking for a...
#1. The ridiculous notion that the terms "all" and "whole world" mean every single person is a terrible fallacy.
It is ridiculous because those terms hardly EVER mean every single person.
The Whole world supports Japan
Japan’s rebirth will benefit the whole world
Luke 2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness...
Are we under the judgement of God as a nation, similar to Israel in Amos 4:1-11?
here is an interesting article in light of the recent Camping predictions
Why Modern-Day Prophecy Theorists are More Dangerous than Harold Camping
What do you think?
Paul said, "19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became...
Since the main reason Jesus would need to be born through Vrgin Birth was to by pass the Sin nature being inherited/passed on to Him...
IF one denies the truth of original Sin/Sin nature imputed to us by fall of Adam...
Isn;'t the Virgin birth cast aside also?
Which view of the bible is more comforting for someone in pain, suffering a loss or needing comfort for some reason.
If you didn’t know the difference between a preterist view and a futurists view of the bible and were starting fresh which view of the bible would be more comforting—Preterism.
In a futurists view you have to change the meaning of works like “coming soon” and “this generation” to mean things that are uncommon, not used anywhere else, and if you don’t know the futurists...
Long story short, after a series of theology lectures, some students stated that they believed that God has done all He's going to do relative to salvation, He now awaits our decision, and passively allows those to be made apart from any sovereign or providential act.
This struck me as a bit of deism, and the more I think of it, the more I think that could be a possibility. I've heard similar worldviews espoused here and elsewhere by Arminians.
So I ask humbly and not to malign my...
I have been challenged by a Catholic to prove several things from scripture alone
From scripture alone how do we know that Matthew wrote the Gospel of Matthew and that Mark, Luke and John wrote their Gospels? Also how do we know that Luke wrote Acts and it is inspired scripture?
From Scripture alone who was Mark and Luke? They clearly were not apostles so why do we consider them as being inspired authors?
None of the 27 books claim to be the inspired word of God so why do we...
