As an honouree, I congratulate Helen on the selection as member of the year. Even if I wasn't an honouree, Helen has come to the forefront, and we all ought to show magnanimity toward her. God bless and lead on O valiant one.
Cheers,
Jim -
Just a brief explanation to those who may have the notion, as Bro. Adam hinted, that the above list of the Member of the Year Award of 2002 is not accurate. The list is accurate all right. The 13 pages thread, when reduced from typeface 10 to 8, came out to 30 pages of printed text. Carefully reading between the fluffs, the thank you notes, and praises (without actually casting a vote), the totals were added together. It was checked, double checked, and some cases triple checked for accuracy.
Now it was unfortunate in Bro. Adam's case that he was left out of a vote. It was my fault, and I apologized for it. I simply forgot that I have already cast a vote for Kathy, who was pretty active at the first part of the year. Then at the last day of the year I did cast a total 10 votes - not remembering that I have only 9 left. Thus, the last name on the list had to be removed during the tabulation.
There was another vote, which Bro. Adam contested, in a Private Message to me, but I feel that it should be made public. He felt that he was not given credit for yet another vote by Jeff Weaver. The truth to the matter is that when Jeff Weaver cast his 10 votes, on the line for the 10th vote he credited three people: Baptistforever (Teresa), Bro. Adam, and the Webmaster. Now if we add that together then the total would have been 12, and not 10. But since everybody is entitled to 10 vote and no more (not even me), the vote for Teresa and Adam was listed under the following line: Baptistforever & Brother Adam = 1. I trust that you see the logic of said argument. Incidentally, there were several other double-votes between two individuals, such as Helen's and others' vote for Clint-Margie on one line (being in the family). I think we need to emphasize this for this year that no double vote should be allowed (speaking for myself also here!).
For this year (2003) the Webmaster should emphasize that no fluff be allowed on the thread, only the names of your candidates. If you want to thank the person for nominating you, then you should send a PM. Otherwise it is very tedious for any person doing the tabulation at the end of the year to go through all that fluff. Just my two cents worth.... -
Well as far as counting on my own, it was accurate. What does it matter who came in first or last. I am almost sure, no doubts, we all are loved.

Could we still say why next year? Maybe just put the names in bold and follow it with a brief note in regular type. Also, I'm sure everyone putting their votes in one post instead of spreading them out might help, just post it at the end of the year!

But since this thread has gone far enough already, we agree with Brother Jim1999, that this kind of discussion should not take away the true intent of the Member of the Year Award for 2002. And since the winner of this year's nominee was Helen, I trust that you all join with me in congratulating her and wishing her all the best for this brand New Year. She also needs our prayers, for as you know she just went through a very serious surgery. Thank God that she is already home, and she is recuperating with the help of her loving husband, Barry. So, three cheers for Helen!!! CHEERS! CHEERS! CHEERS!

Congratulations Helen..that is just awsome.
Helen is the one member who went out of her way to make me feel welcome & encouraged. She is a godly example of honor and humility. And I am priviledged and greatful to call her friend.
Well Done, Helen, you truely deserved this award...God Bless You Big! -
Congratulations, Helen.

It is just nice to be nominated and it ain't the end of the world if you don't carry off the BB belt.
Where are all the chads?????
Congrats,Helen. -
Wow, folks! If this isn't a get well gift, there ain't no such thing! I woke up from yet another nap a bit ago and walked out to the front of the house to reintroduce myself to my family and thought I would check in here.
This is an honor, and thank you.
Some special thank-you's:
to the Lord for the changes He has made in my life.
to Barnabas for the quiet and warm encouragement he consistently gives -- something I have tried to emulate.
to the Webmaster for all his work here in keeping this board up and running.
to Clint for the constant technical help. I doubt any of us really knows how much work he has put in here.
to Gina for the smiles and laughter she consistently shares, even when her own times are hard.
to Glen (Tyndale) for knowing how to disagree graciously and courteously and setting an example for us all.
to so many for so much... I know no matter how many I list, I would leave out someone special. Forgive me for getting sloppy -- I'm on pain medications so I have an excuse!
God bless you all, and thank you again. In the words of one of my favorite songs Steve Green sings:
...to love the Lord our God is the heartbeat of our mission...proclaim and live the truth in Jesus' name...
and
...may all who come behind us find us faithful...and the lives we live inspire them to obey...
In Christ,
