Satan Murdered Jesus - The Scripture and Theology
There is much confusion on this board about the clear witness of Scripture and Theological tradition to the fact that Satan murdered Jesus on the cross.
Yes, Jesus' death was ordained by God. God is sovereign, and can ordain events in which sins and injustices take place without himself being the agent of sin or unjust. Yes, Jesus went to his death voluntarily. Yes, Jesus' death was also the work of sinful humans both Jew and Gentile, including you and me. But Satan also was there,... -
The Work of God
"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he has sent." John 6:29
Here, then, is the main labor of faith, to believe in Jesus Christ so as to obtain pardon, peace, and deliverance. Many a poor soul is laboring hard at this work, yet with a deep and increasing conviction that it is a work which he cannot perform except by the immediate power of God. So powerful an antagonist is unbelief, that, with all his attempts, he feels that he cannot... -
Mark 14:12-16. Nisan 14.
Mark 14:12-16, ". . . And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the... -
Not Closed Theology
A significant fraction of believers think God has exhaustively predestined whatsoever comes to pass. We are all like actors on a stage, simply mouthing our words and doing our foreordained actions. But the fly in the buttermilk is that such a viewpoint means we are not responsible for our sinful thoughts and actions as they were foreordained by God and we cannot resist His power to compel.
Thus any system of theology that hold humanity responsible for sin is not a closed theology, but an... -
Issues with the Baptist Board
I'm very concerned about Salty. It's been two weeks since he has been logged on. He always tells the other moderators if he is going to be gone even for half a day. Salty posts every single day.
I do know his real name as he asked me once to join his and Mrs. Salty's Facebook page. I do not accept Facebook requests unless I know someone in person. Two days ago, I looked up his Facebook page and he is posting normally. So, he is not sick and Mrs. Salty is not sick.

Penal Substitution Atonement Theory - Question
Does the Biblical fact that 'the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan', was behind the crucifixion of Christ somehow contradict Penal Substitution Theory?
I grew up in the SB Church, was taught that Christ died in my place as ordained by God, AND that Satan was the instigator of His death. -
What About Revival?
I am currently reading an amazing book, Henan by Paul Hattaway. It is the history of work for Christ in the province of Henan from the 19th century until today. Tremendous revivals are chronicled, right through tragic times of persecution such as the Boxer Rebellion of 1900 and the terrible time of the Cultural Revolution of 1966-1976. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in revival, missions, and China.
I believe in both personal and corporate revival. Walking with Christ... -

Seeking God some of the Time
Romans 3:11 makes this statement and some read this as saying "there is none who seeks for God at any time." However the intended contextual message might be "there is none who seeks for God all the time, or when they are going against God by sinning."
Contextually, since Paul is saying "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), so when going against God by sinning is most likely the actual message.
Consider this verse:
2 Chronicles 15:4 (NASB)
“But in their... -
What Were the Apostles Commissioned to Do in Evangelism?
Determining correctly what Scripture reveals about what the apostles were commissioned to do in evangelism is essential for our knowing correctly what we are to do in evangelism.
