Is watching a R rated movie a sin?
I will focus on R rated movies, but the question could entail all movies. The answer to the question may depend on the movie and or the person as this could be a romans issue where to some people a certain film is a sin, and to others it may not be. I imagine that to the Fundamentalist Baptist any R rated movie would be a sin to watch. And on the other side there are those claiming to be evangelical that will watch anything and claim its all okay.

Dangers of the Grace Movement
I heard a spot radio announcement by a grace movement church in which it was stated that they used only the KJV. This caused me to visit and, for a while, I was hooked. Finally, I realized that it was little more than a cult. No, I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "cult," but the veneration bestowed on John Nelson Darby and C.I. Scofield would almost warrant that designation. The nineteenth century certainly had its share of cults and false teachers. Anyway, when I found out what... -
Dr. D. Wallace's View of Election
The Biblical Doctrine of Election
Daniel B. Wallace has posted “My Understanding of the Biblical Doctrine of Election” and the following presents a discussion of the merits of that view. In Doctor Wallace’s words, “having a good conscious about the text does not require agreement with others; it requires being faithful to pursue truth at all costs to the best of your abilities.” Amen to that!
Daniel is a man of integrity and honesty and has provided the world much clarity concerning the... -
Law Liquidated
If righteousness (Gal 2:21) and redemption came by the Law then only Jews could ever be saved, for Gentiles were never under it prior to its annulling (Heb 7:18, 19; 8:7; 10:9). Until all the Law would be “fulfilled” it could not “pass” (Mat 5:18), thus its passing came when Christ fulfilled, or, finished it (Rom 10:4). Remember, it is Christ’s words that “shall not pass away” (Mat 24:35), not the Mosaic Law!
In this article it makes a point that since the Law did not require one’s death... -

What does "in Christ" mean?
I heard a pastor recently define it this way,
"We are all familiar with being "in the army" or "in the labor union" and "in Christ" simply means we are "in the Christian environment." He was attempting to define "in Christ" in Ephesians 1:3-4 in order to characterize that as its meaning throughout the entire book of Ephesians. He applied it to the Ephesians as a reality but must make it also a choice. They either chose to live "in the Christian environment" or the world environment.

The Baptist Name
In The Baptist Name, Rick Shrader gives five reasons in favor of the name Baptist for our churches.
Denominational names (I mean, of course, the one which describes you) are not divisive but unifying because they are up front and honest.
The willingness to discard the name Baptist is due more to a loathing of tradition than to a concern for the unchurched.
If these denominational names fade away, others like them will take their place.
The recognition of our doctrine is still the most... -
Doctrines of Calvinism denying the offer of salvation to the world
Since I have been on this forum (since 2001) there has consistently been the accusation Calvinism denies a universal aspect of the Cross. Specifically this comes up in opposition to the view that the work of the Cross was such that all who believed would be saved. In other words, the opposing position is an argument against what is said through assuming what is not said.
I realize that Calvinism (just like non-Calvinism) comes in many colors. But are there any doctrines of Calvinism that... -
