Those who concede errors in the Scriptures n order to remove conflict with science
John A. Broadus
Professor of New Testament Interpretation and Homiletics,
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1859 – 1895)
The inspired writers learned many things by observation or inquiry, but they were preserved by the Holy Spirit from error whether in learning or in writing these things. …Those who concede errors in the Scriptures as to matter of fact, in order to remove conflict with some scientific opinions of our time, may tell us that they have great satisfaction in being at... -
What Will You Be Doing on 12/22/12?
Just a reminder...the end of the Mayan world, as they know it, is quickly approaching. With that in mind, what are your plans for Saturday, December 22, 2012?
I will be taking my wife to a medical appointment, and meeting my brother and his wife for dinner on Sunday, December 23.
I can't help but wonder if any true believers in the Mayan realm of culture and society [if there is any remaining within the world] have decided to forgo buying Christmas presents until after December 21,... -

Where To Stand
This morning, I find myself reversing position on the George Zimmerman shooting matter in Florida. It seemed to matter not that the young George Zimmerman was performing his assigned duty in the neighborhood that, having experienced an abnormal rash of Burglaries, had hired him to do, just what he was doing. First, knee-jerk, reactions did not consider that evidence of a burglary was found in Trevon Martin's back pack.
The Black and White copies of the Color Photos were, in this... -
How do you identify yourself?
In a previous thread there was an exchange about being identified based on what a person believes. For instance, if a person believes that the sign gifts are not operative today they are commonly called a cessationist. If a person believes in a pretribulational, premillennial rapture of the church the are commonly referred to as a dispensationalist. When it comes to soteriology there are a number of different designations: semi-Pelagian, Pelagian, Calvinist, Doctrines of Grace, Arminian... -
Culpability
Do we need to be redeemed because of what we are or what we do? Culpability only rests upon one of the options. What say ye? No, there is no third option in this poll. If you want to try and espouse a third option, start another poll or thread. -
1 Cor. 12:13 and water baptism and local church body
1 Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1. "by" on Spirit means "by his leadership" or "under his direction"
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord,... -
Who is Rick Warren, really?
Sola Sisters: Church of Tares A Must-Watch Video
Check out this video called "Church of Tares". It is very long and many who have studied Rick Warren may know some of this information. But really, who is he really? I have personally seen the destruction (IMO) of what his Purpose Driven methods can do, and I feel that there are numerous churches throughout the world now that have modeled after... -
A Question about Baptist Pastors
I'm not a practicing Baptist, though the last church I frequented was a Reformed Baptist fellowship. I know this is a "Baptists Only" thread so I will make no comments but I figured it was ok to ask questions here, as long as I remain silent regarding replies. If this is not so, I figured I'd know soon enough
Do Baptist Pastors have to go to a seminary/theology college before they are allowed to pastor a congregation and if so, what do you do when what the Spirit reveals to you... -
The Sharp Divide: How to deal with it
If the level of rancor and vitriol on this board is any indication of how pronounced the divide is in the Church between those who hold to the FW position or the DoG, the question is how to deal with it? There's no divide in Presbyterian or Reformed churches since the DoG is a settled issue. The same with Wesleyan, Anabaptist, or self-proclaimed Arminian churches. These churches are firmly in the FW camp. In Baptist circles there are those groups that are decided on either side of the...
