Papias Quote and Early Date of Revelation
Someone in a different thread asked me for historical proof of an eariler date of Revelation. I posted the following but, to this date, there has been no response. So I start a new thread on this because I believe this quote of Papias has bearing on the dating of Revelation. If no outright proof, I believe it strongly implies the earlier date.

The best and earliest source would probably be Papias, AD 130, about 50 years before Irenaeus.
Here is a quote from Ed... -
Has ALL Humanity Been Given a Measure of Faith?
MB wrote:
There is no special gift of faith we all have been dealt a measure of faithand this faith can grow by hearing the word of God. Faith is nothing more than simply hoping Christ will save us.
We are all dealt a measure of faith to begin with.
The above statement is an assertion of universality about humans that the Bible does not confirm. Instead, the assertion comes from the philosophy of man and is then forced upon God as though it were a fact.
Is MB's assertion supported in the... -
The Holy Spirit in The Book of Acts
This Books is called “The Acts of the Apostles” in many Bibles. It should be referred to as “The Acts of the Holy Spirit”, as He is mentioned in Acts more than in any other Book of the entire Holy Bible.
There are some who regard the Holy Spirit as a created being, as did the early Church heretic, Origen, who lived in the 2nd/3rd century. The Jehovah’s Witnesses, as other cults, teach this blasphemy today. Further, the “Personality” of the Holy Spirit is also denied by some, who teach that... -
The Unknown John R. Rice
With this thread I'd like to share some things from my personal knowledge and from the extensive research I did for my new biography of John R. Rice, the famous revivalist. Feel free to share your own memories or thoughts or knowledge. By the way, I'll probably share a few things that are not in my or any other biography. In the interest of full disclosure, for those new to the BB or who do not know me, John R. Rice was my grandfather.
In the 1930's Rice was an itinerant evangelist, having... -

"And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half. " - Daniel 12:7
From a folio cataloged as Yahuda MS 7.3g, f. 13v:
"So then the time times & half a time are 42 months or 1260 days or three years & an half, reckoning twelve months to... -
Creating Your Own God
One of the tactics of false teachers is to make claims not based on specific statements contextually considered, but on undefined statements. For example, say I claim God put invisible pink elephants in orbit around Mars. You say show me the evidence.
I say "all things are possible with God." Then I attack, by saying by your denial that God did not put them in orbit, you are diminishing the divine attributes of God, and you deny God is sovereign and does as He pleases.
Take, "No one... -
Can you prove by Scripture
Can you prove by Scripture that there is true freedom of the will?
Does not the Scripture state, “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Does not the Scripture state, “But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become... -
Some Objections to AD70 Rapture Answered
1. How come no one witnessed all these Christians being raptured? I think the best answer is that it happened truly as Jesus forewarned, like a thief in the night. The same time that that the priests were ministering in the Temple and heard the voice saying “Let us depart from here”.
In an earlier post I had gone into more detail on this, including the quote from Josephus on this event. IMO, I think the “depart from here” was a reference to those just then leaving Hades, followed a split... -
The NT does not teach Christ to return soon.
The NT teaches Christ's return will be sudden and unexpected to the lost.

The Atonement of Christ: What did it REALLY Achieve ?3
It accomplished believers in Himself !
The Death of Christ, it accomplished for all those He died for, for them to become believers in Him, yes that was one of God's Purposes behind it. Jn 3:14-17
14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,...
