Great Hymns and Spiritual songs about salvation by grace alone.
While I was at church we sang a litany of hymns that express the joy of being saved by grace apart from any work of our own doing. I thought it would be good for people to share the songs of grace alone that touch your heart and speak theology to your soul.
I will start out with the most popular hymn of all time, a good "Calvinist" hymn, Amazing Grace. -
Son of God vs God, the Son
We know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
He also is God the Son.
As the Son of God - could mean that he is not God, -- 47 times in the Bible - all but one is in the NT
God, the Son erases that possibility -
Does it make a difference how we refer to Christ?

If God doesn't have a future for the Jews...
If God doesn't have a future for the Jews as separate from the present Church, why did God bother making the Abrahamic Covenant and thus separating Gentiles from Jews? Why did Jesus need to be Jewish and the seed of Abraham? Why did not the Godhead just skip this completely useless Abrahamic covenant and program and cut to the chase with presenting Jesus to Abraham and the world that then was? It only makes God look like a fool who can't keep His word if He makes a covenant with Abraham and... -

If you read and use a Spanish Bible, what version do you recommend, and why?

Commenting on Hosea 6:7: "Adam" or "adam"? Is this a Covenant verse or not?
Whether or not we should understand the "adam" in Hosea to be "Adam" or not, the bone of contention is whether that gives any evidence of an actual covenant with Adam. The two possibilities I see:
1. If Adam, the man, is meant: Both Adam, on the one hand, and Judah and Ephraim, on the other, were entrusted with some blessing from God. Both parties here professed allegiance and proved themselves to be faithless to that allegiance.
2. If by "adam", "men" is meant: Judah and Ephraim, like all... -
What is the Prevalent "Baptist" View on Evangelical Moderates?
My question is the title of the thread. By evangelical moderate I mean people who are typically evangelicals found in Mainline Denominations.
They believe Jesus Christ died for their sins and confess Him as Lord and Savior. They accept historical criticism as accurate. They believe science trumps the bible. They believe that the Words of God in the bible are inspired by God but not literally true. They tend to embrace American pop culture. They tend to follow American artists who claim to... -
We are currently in the tribulation and Trump is the beast?
Open air preaching in DT Denver and was rejected. However one person was listening. Since I preached a little on the rapture and coming return of Christ he approached me said that we are presently in the tribulation and Trump is the beast of Revelation. What view holds that we are presently in the tribulation? -
Essential Doctrines
On another thread, Deacon stated: (post # 4)
...a statement of faith can be a point of separation from others or it can seek to bring together others of diverse background, seeking to unite them in the essentials"
Very interesting statement -
what are some doctrines that would cause you to separate from others (within a local church)
What are some doctrines that would bring you together?
What are some doctrines that you could compromise on? -
What is more important, Greek text, or translation philosophy?
As I contend that one can make a good and legit translation from TR/CT/MT text source, but how they choose to translate, formal DE inclusive etc more important factors?
I did not bring into this Henrew text, as think most use the standard Hebrew text?
